The object of research is verbal bases with the categorial meaning of active movement in modern German. The purpose of research is to determine the word-formation potential of verbal bases with the categorial meaning of active movement. The present paper suggests a comprehensive method of analysis: immediate constituents, component and valency analises. The scientific novelty of this research lies in the fact that for the first time it highlighted word-formation potential of verbal bases with the categorial meaning of active movement from the point of view of base-centered derivatology. The work revealed a set of linguistic factors: word-formation, semantics and valency which enable the word-formation capacity of verbs with the meaning of active movement; the paper built word-formation nests within which it defined word-formation, motivational and synonymic relations between derivatives and derived. The theoretical value of this research lies in the further development of the word-formation theory, in particular word-formation semantics, the nominative derivational and valency theories of the modern German language. The paper revealed word-formation potential of verbal bases with the categorial meaning of active movement which deepens the knowledge about the interaction of morphological, word-forming and lexical levels of the language system, about the links between paradigmatics and syntagmatics. The practical value of the work consists in the possibility of using its results in the courses of lexicology of the modern German language, theoretical grammar, in special courses on word-formation problems.
