A. van Gennep's theory of transition rituals considers in this dissertation. Its verification is carried out on the example of ceremonies of life cycle with the purpose of refutation or confirmation of possibility of the use of this theory as an instrument at research of ceremonies of life cycle. The history of perception of the theory of transition rituals by scientists, its influence on different branches of a science is considered.
