The dissertation presents complex analysis of legal status of women of Ukraine as a part of Russian Empire between the second part of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century. The analysis concerns both the general and private legal status of women, its gender dependence. It also explains the dependence of women's increased rights on social movement that took place in Russian Empire. Peculiarities of regulation of women's status by Civil and Family Law, Hetmann's traditions and Customs Law of Ukraine were reviewed. The increase of involvement of women in labor activity in period of reforms took place.
