Piskun D. Confrontation: tactics and psychological basis

The dissertation is dedicated to research of procedural and criminalistical characteristics of confrontation, it tactics and psychological basis, which contribute to its effectiveness. The author analyses scientific approach to it as an individual procedural (investigational) activity; which possesses specifics of purposes and means of conduction, which differentiates it from other investigational activities, directed at getting proof information. The subject of confrontation is defined – getting rid of substantial contradictions in evidence of persons interrogated before, possible sources of contradictions are systematized, most effective tactical means of their elimination are proposed. Means of lawful and acceptable psychological influence, which correspond to norms of democratic legal proceedings are developed. Typical situations, which occur during confrontation, are defined and researched: errors in perception and interpretation of perceived, lie of one of the participants; slander of an innocent person, self-slander, refusal to present evidence. Tactical methods are researched, both individual, and their system, which are depicted according to confrontation situations and are the most effective.
