Essay

The ways of the tarsi positioning during walking on the plane and on stems were studied in representatives of 4 insect orders as example. The pretarsal morphology was investigated in 207 species, representing the 59 Hymenopteran families. The data were collected that concern: a) the presence, shape and mechanical properties of the sclerites; b) localization of the setae and sensillae on the sclerites; c) organization features of the flexible cuticular areas. Nine functional types of the pretarsi of Hymenoptera were found out.The main directions of the pretarsus evolution within Hymenoptera order were defined on the basis of abtained data.
