Essay

The thesis is devoted to a study of the mechanisms of cytotoxic properties towards a wide range of mammalian tumor cell lines of the anthracycline-related angucycline landomycin E (LE).Apoptotic cell death induced by LE was further confirmed by caspase-(3 and -7) dependent cleavage of PARP-1, profound intracellular oxidative stress and by intensive mitochondrial membrane depolarisation. LE is only a weak substrate for P-gp and MRP1 (up to 2.5 times less sensitivity to the tumor cell lines with MDR comparatively to the wild type of cell lines), and is not transported by BCRP.
