Essay

The thesis contains scientific analysis of fractured meniscus and tendon ligaments of the knee joint of 179 cases. On the basis of the results, the ultrasonographic (USD) symptons of patients with high probability of fractured meniscus was elicited, according to the type of fracture and age of trauma. It was established that, the USD symptons increased in fractured meniscus of 3 days old. In a comparative analysis of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and USD with operative arthroscopy, it was established that MRI is a better imaging method in transchondrial fractures and USD useful in Para capsular fractures. Comparing USD symptons of torned ligaments of the knee joint elicited straight and irregular signs of ligament tear.Comparing results of USD with MRI showed insignificant difference in their imaging capabilities, with MRI being slightly better (accuracy higher by 1,7 %). In analyzing fractures of the meniscus with all other ligaments of the knee joint, it was established that, despite the difficult in visualization by USD it exhibited very high results (sensitivity – 81 %, accuracy – 92,2 %).
