Nikitin V. The correlation between traditions and modernization in the process of the formation of the civil society in Ukraine

The dissertation analyses the correlation between traditions and modernization in the works of Ukrainian and foreign authors. It also considers the political practices of formation of the civil society in Ukraine and the experience of other states in this sphere. It proposes the analysis of the political, social, cultural factors, which determines the formation of the civil society in Ukraine. The author reveals the correlation between traditions and modernization in the modern political process. The dissertation determines the ways to resolve the conflict between traditions and modernization in the context of transition from totalitarism to democracy. It analyses the conservative politics as the factor of the preservation traditions and political modernization as the liberal-democratic project. The peculiarities of organization the process of formation of the civil society in Ukraine are determined. The main directions of overcoming the tradition-modernization contradictions are defined, their influence on the formation of the national model of the interaction between the state and the civil society are discovered.
