Essay

Eight opera works by S. Slonimsky are researched in the thesis from the point of view of interaction with artistic tradition of deferent ages and cultures. The idea of tradition is examined as experience, which is realized in the creative settings and preferences of composer, and as a narration, which have found a reflection in subjects of his music-staging canvases. The mechanism of the interaction with artistic traditions, that is uncovered in the course of analyze, allows to single out the type traits of the opera thinking of composer, revealing in his author's opera theatre three main directions - Russian national, Shakespeare's and mythological one. They are added with ballad-opera, which unites creative discoveries of other works.
