Zvarychuk Z. Church Choir Performance in Halychyna in the XIX Century

The thesis is dedicated to the development of church choir, performing in Halychyna in the XIX century. The thesis analyses the state of the scholarly studies, concerning Halychyna church choir art of the XIX century; besides it singles out the peculiarities of Halychyna spiritual choir art as a specific regional phenomenon and studies its relations with the existing folklore and ancient church-singing traditions. The peculiarities of the deacon singing education in the educational institutions of Halychyna as well as the role of deacons in the development of church choir singing are highlighted. The dissertation reconstructs the aesthetics of Ukrainian church, performing in the region in the middle of XIX- the beginning of XX century as the system with prominent genre and style dominants; besides it finds out the criteria and the factors, that existed in this sphere of choir art. The paper also considers the character and the role of concert practice, the level of performing skills and the peculiarities of the functioning of Halychyna church choirs and prominent society choirs in the sphere of church-singing performance.
