The thesis introduces a new approach to the comparative and typological study of conversational constructions dynamics as signs of English and Ukrainian fiction. The paper introduces methods for comparing English and Ukrainian conversational constructions, identifies common and divergent types of conversational constructions in English and Ukrainian fiction of the XVIII th - the beginning of the XXI st centuries. It compares the peculiarities of the following processes: reduction, extension, segmentation and substitution of conversational constructions grammatical forms and analyses their changes in English and Ukrainian fiction of the XVIII th - the beginning of the XXI st centuries.
