Magdych S. Attraction and usage of foreign investments by food industry companies

In the dissertation there is research on the condition and dynamics of foreign investment in Ukraine in the 2000s. We have researched and explained the essence of foreign investments in the innovative technological modernization of our food industry companies. We have examined the competitive advantages of the country in general, and we have also discovered and explained their peculiarities as for the food industry of Ukraine in particular. Different types of investment strategies for different stages of a company life cycle have been grounded. Investment attractiveness and investment volume of the food, drink and tobacco manufacturing branch industry have been shown. Different sources and forms of the attraction of foreign investment have been characterized, their innovative constituent part for food raw material processing companies has been identified. In order to evaluate the degree of the attractiveness of food industry companies it has been discovered that the following branches are leading: tobacco industry, manufacture of drinks, fruits and vegetables processing industry, and among the outsiders are manufacture of fish products, meat industry, grain processing and manufacture of starch. The most important attractiveness factor is high income and profitability. Organizational fundamentals, forms and objects of foreign capital investments have been researched, problems and obstacles have been identified and assessed. The advantages and disadvantages, strong and weak sides of Ukrainian companies connected with the realization f the investment projects with foreign capital have been examined. The tools and mechanisms of problem solution and overcoming obstacles which appear for foreign investors have been grounded.
