Essay

The dissertation is aimed to investigate the poetics of Amir Khusrau Dehlevi starting from the main concepts of Arabian and Persian poetics, that includes figures of speech (badi'), prosody ('aruz) and rime (qfiye). On basis of its semantic and lexical features a classification of the Khusrau Dehlevi's Persian ghazals was composed. It consists of four types: love and mystical poetry, mystical and philosophical poetry, court poetry, "pained" poetry. The characters of Farsi and Hindi lyrics of Khusrau Dehlevi were strongly affected by the Sufi ideas. Though Khusrau Dehlevi is a poet of Iraqi style, his poetry bears the origins of Indian style. Khusrau Dehlevi may be considered as a founder of a new type of ghazal, in which the erotic and mystical trends are mingled.
