Essay

Religious studies analysis of modern Orthodox theologies works led to the conclusion, that Orthodox theology, which is Neo-Patristics by its paradigmatic de-scription, includes three basic trends: neo-patristic objective idealism, neo-patristic existentialism and neo-patristic synthetical theology. It is also established that neo-patristic theologists use four types of theories of knowledge of God in order to create the theories of knowledge of God: intuitionalism, mystical empiricism, existentialism and hermeneutics. The latter arise from reconsideration of Greek patristic theories by means of modern thought. It is necessary to notice as an important result of research that the supporters of neo-patristic intellectual intuitionalism make the theories of knowledge of God based on possibility of direct contemplation of God's actions by native mind. At the same time the representatives of mystical intuitionalism consider ecstatic contemplation of God by the deified human mind to be the method of knowl-edge of God. The modern representatives of mystical empiricism define mystical experience as a basic criterion in the construction of theology conceptions, while Orthodox exis-tentialism arose up and develops mostly as creative reconsideration of a patristic per-sonal mysticism by means of modern existentialism. Neo-patristic hermeneutics con-siders interpretation of three revelations of God - natural, biblical and mystical - as a source of true knowledge of God. The representatives of Ukrainian Neo-Patristics study the above mentioned theories of the knowledge of God.
