Essay

The thesis deals with interaction of toxic pigment bilirubin with albumin and salts of bile acids in solutions and their adsorption on various silica adsorbents.It was found that bilirubin was adsorbed by the surface of all investigated types of ultrafine silica. It was proved that adsorption value for Bil and salts of bile acids was proprtional to their hydrophobicity. It was discovered, that the form in which bilirubin was adsorbed, was predetermined by formation of complexes in solution. From solutions with albumin, bilirubin was adsorbed in complex form, whereas from solutions with bile salts only free bilirubin was bound to the surface. It was shown that salts were adsorbed as monomers and their adsorption values depended upon hydrophobic properties of a steroid skeleton.
