Essay

The Thesis is dedicated to studying dynamics of phytomass and sequestered carbon in stands of main forest forming species of Livoberezhny prydniprovsky Forest-steppe. Dynamics of silvicultural and mensurational indices in stands of main forest forming species of studied region within the scope of state forestry enterprises was analyzed. A complex of mathematical models for estimating conversion ratios of stand phytomass dynamics by main components was worked up. For estimation phytomass and sequestered carbon dynamics in stands of Livoberezhny Prydniprovsky Forest-steppe, conversion ratios and data of State forest cadastre was used. It was ascertained that site index and average age of stands have the major influence upon conversion ratios dynamics. A quotient of sequestration of anthropogenic carbon emissions by forest stands of the region was determined. Mathematical models of dynamics and reference tables for estimating amounts of phytomass components in bone-dry state in stands of main forest forming tree species of the studied region; relation of aboveground phytomass of stands to their standing volume; tables of carbon content in aboveground phytomass in stands of main forest forming tree species of Poltava region were propounded. Practical use of the abovementioned materials is important from perspectives of sustainable forestry, enhancing productivity, improving ecological and energy functions of forest stands, and for estimating phytomass in stands of main forest forming tree species of Livoberezhny Prydniprovsky Forest-steppe.
