The thesis suggests a new approach to the contrastive and typological study of the linguistic and cultural information of the phraseologisms with proper name component in the English, Polish and Ukrainian languages. The paper introduces the methodology for comparing phraseologisms with proper name component in the languages mentioned above. Two thematic groups of the studied units are distinguished on the basis of proper name component semantics: personal and geographical proper names. The research defines the motivation basis for the formation of the figurative meaning of the phraseologisms with personal and geographical proper name component in the English, Polish and Ukrainian languages. The thesis analyses common and different sources of the linguistic and cultural information of the phraseologisms with proper name component in the contrasted languages.
