In the thesis a new approach to contrastive and typological study of word-building means in distantly related languages was introduced. The theoretical and methodological fundamentals for the study of word-building potential was generalised; a new methodology for contrasting word-building affixes was introduced; the regularities of the derivational processes in Korean, Russian and English were analysed; the common and divergent types of affixation models were distinguished; the degree of productivity of Korean, Russian and English affixes and word-building models was defined.
