This dissertation studies instantiation of the concept CELEBRITY in modern English newspaper discourse. The aim of this paper is to discover the peculiarities of notional-evaluative, image-evaluative and symbolic content of the CELEBRITY concept in modern English newspaper discourse. The methodology is integrated and consists of semantics method, cognitive linguistics method and discourse-analysis method.Theoretical significance of the dissertation which lies on the disclosure of the CELEBRITY concept on the basis of cognitive-discoursive methodology is a contribution for solving the priority problems of cognitive linguistics, discourse theory, linguistics axiology, theory of cognitive metaphor.Рractical significance of the research resides on possibility to use its proposition and results in lectures on English language lexicology and stylistics, general language study, and also special courses on cognitive linguistics, discourse theory, linguistics axiology and theory of cognitive metaphor.Scientific novelty of the research is provided by determination on the basis of cognitive-discoursive method for the first time notional-evaluative, image-evaluative and symbolic content of the CELEBRITY concept in Modern English Newspaper Discourse and it proved that in the discourse context the CELEBRITY concept is subject to semantic reconsideration which lies in substituting its objective semantic characteristics with subjective.
