Essay

The objects are works by Sylvia Plath and Oksana Zаbuzhko. The aim is to decode the gender problems and specifics of its artistic embodiment in poetic and prosaic works by Sylvia Plath and Oksana Zаbuzhko through the comparative analysis. The methods are systematizations and classifications, comparative, cultural and historical, biographic, psycho-analytical, descriptive. In the thesis the typological and genetic comparison of poetic and prose works by the American writer Sylvia Plath and the Ukrainian writer Oksana Zabuzhko is conducted through the gender lens. It is for the first time in the Ukrainian literary science that the complex comparative analysis of the works by both writers is presented. In poetry texts by both writers the joint realization of female archetypes is revealed. At the topical, thematic and ideological levels the typologically mutual interpretation of femmes fatales characters as victims of gender-asymmetrical society model as well as the interpretation of Cinderella's image as a patriarchal consciousness bearer are singled out. The differences lie within the individual authors' conceptualization of the given plots. The typologically mutual catastrophic discourse transformed in the poetry through feminocentric lens and represents the authors' individual vision. Application sphere is the training courses.
