Patyk V. Vyacheslav Illich Strelsky - a specialist in the field of source study, an archivist, pedagogue (1910 - 1983).

This thesis is dedicated to a complex investigation of the life and activity of specialist in the field of source study and historiography, a well-known archivist, a historian, one of founders of historical and archives school in Ukraine, author of the training literature in the field of source study, pedagogue V.I. Strelsky. In the thesis on the basis of investigating the problem's historiography and a wide-range of primary historical sources, a considerable part of which has been used for the first time, as well as Strelsky's scientific heritage, it is described the scholar's contribution to the development of source study and the questions of classification, criticism and using of historical sources, archival studies and special historical disciplines.
