The dissertation is dedicated to the research of existence and functioning of the public opinion in the political-cultural field with the purpose of scientific-theoretic argumentation of the public opinion as one of the democracy elements and the factor, which can significantly influence the building of the democratic political culture in Ukraine. The author investigates the process of the public opinion building and the influence of such factors as the public opinion object, mass media, "opinion leaders", existing political culture. The comparative analysis of the existence and functioning of public opinion in the totalitarian-authoritarian and democratic political culture types is made within dissertation research.
