In diabetes mellitus there have been established changes of cytoplasmic glycoconjugates of Kupffer's cells manifested by greater degree of their sialization concomitant with unmasking the final monosaccharide residues of D-galactose and NAcDGal. There have been established participation of carbohydrate determinants DMan and DGal in the formation of basal membrane of the acini and in the synthesis of secretion in the homogenic zone with the involvement of carbohydrate determinants in the formation of zymogenic granules. It has been shown the expedience of usage of lectins as selective histochemical markers of structural components of the liver and pancreas.
