Khalil H. The clinical and immunological features of patients with senile cataract

The thesis is devoted to increasing of efficiency of prevention of opacities progressing in crystalline lens in the patients with initial senile cataract (SC). 136 patients with initial senile cataract were examined. Efficiency of additional using of glutargin and enterosgel in 62 patients (124 eyes) with initial SC (the basic group) was studied. Infringement of clinical data, cytokines profile of the tear and plasma in the form of increasing of proinflammatory cytokines levels (TNF alfa, IL-1 beta) and decreasing of antiinflammatory (IL-10) cytokines, decreasing of protective tear's factors - Ig A and lysocyme, activation of autoimmune reactions to crystalline lens antigenes are established in patients with initial SC; that plays an essential role in pathogenesis and course of disease. More expressed changes of cytokine profile of tear and condition of local immunity of eyes were observed in progression of initial SC. Using of glutargin and enterosgel by patients from the basic group promoted stabilization of pathological processes in crystalline lens and visual functions, normalization of the local immunity of eye, cytokine profile of tear and decreasing of the autoimmune reactions activity to crystalline lens antigenes.
