Essay

Object of research: space-confinement photonic crystals for managed spectral filtering of the optical radiation. Aim: problem solution as for finding physical regularities of the PhC paramenter influence to the optical properties of the wideband filters on their basis. Results, novelty: For the first time the influence of the material dispersion to the eigen-frequencies of the 2D PhC is found. The inaccuracy may exceed 5%. For the first time connection between photonic density of states and the transmittance is found for the 2D PhC. There have been computed the photonic density of states maps which allowed to increase the filters parameters determination accuracy. For the first time the confinement influence to the spectral characteristics of the filters is found. The recomendations for the optimal waveguide width selection are given. The parameters of the filters are found which allowed to separate the ultrashort pulses. Using the obtained experimental data the spectral and transmission characteristics of the nonlinear PhCs were computed. The necissity of taking into account the field distribution inside the nonlinear element is shown. The optical power limitation conditions inside nonlinear PhCs are obtained.
