The purpose of the research - to establish the word formative potential of nouns - the crop production terms. The object - deriving stems of root nouns of the crop production term system of the modern German language, deriving stems of nouns and adjectives. The subject - structural, semantic and cognitive peculiarities of word formative potential of the root nouns stems of crop production term system in the modern German language. Methods - descriptive, word formative analysis; word formative modelling, transformational analysis; cognitive semantic analysis. Theoretical and practical value is determined by the contribution to the word formation theory and terminology; by the use in lexicographical practice.
