Dzuba M. Surgical Treatment of Mandibular Fractures Complicated with Bony Tissue Defect.

The thesis deals with the development of method of surgical treatment of mandibular fractures complicated with the formation of anatomical defects of bony tissue, which consists in fixation of bone fragments and shielding of fracture zone by reticular titanic implant with filling of defect area with thrombocyte - fibrin concentrate. It has been determined that the cause of the formation of defects of mandibular bony tissue, which has been observed in 0,4% of victims is comminuted fractures in 37,5%, traumatic osteomyelitis in 37,5% and pseudoarthrosis in 25% of cases. The new method of treatment of mandibular fractures in cases of fresh comminuted fractures, traumatic osteomyelitis with sequestrum, pseudoarthrosis has been suggested and clinically and experimentally confirmed. The new method of surgical treatment has been successfully applied in 16 victims. Complications and unfavorable outcomes have not been observed. The application of suggested method of surgical treatment and on its basis an early functional therapy have enabled to achieve the higher level of rehabilitation of activity of mastication and mimic muscles by the time of ending of disability period.
