Object - age-related cataract. Purpose - to increase the efficacy of treatment of patients with age-related cataract. Methods - visometry, biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy, tonometry; biochemical: investigation of level of cysteine, glutamate, glycine and activity of enzymes: gamma- glutamilcysteinsyntatase and glutathionesyntatase.The new method of age-related cataract treatment have been worked out. It was found a new scientific data about mechanisms of experimental light cataract formation: in early terms of modeling the processes of transport of amino acid - precursors of glutathione are disturbed, in final stage the main cataractogenous factor is low level of cysteine. Firstly it was showen, that low concentration of glutathione in the lens of patients with age-related cataract connected with low level of amino acid - precursors of glutathione and low activity of enzymes of its syntesis. The results are adopted at the Filatov Institute. The sphere of application: medicine, ophthalmology.
