Essay

The conoscopic patterns of gyrotropic uniaxial crystals in the vicinity of their isotropic point has been analyzed with using of the computer simulation method. The piezogyration effect in paratellurite crystals has been experimentally studied. The method of three-dimensional tensor stress field reconstruction, basing on polarimetric mapping, optical retardation modeling with using the integral Jones matrix approach and respective mechanical model has been suggested. The so-called forbidden ferroelastic domain structure in Rb2xTl2(1 x)Cd2(SO4)3 crystals has been experimentally and theoretically investigated.
