Essay

Subject of research: The process of the perinatal determination of a program for the male reproductive system formation. Research objective: To establish the aftereffects of influence of inhibitors of phosphodiesterase activity in the prenatal period on the sexual development and functions of the reproductive system of the male organism. Methods: Physiological, biochemical, immunoenzymatic, histological and statistical. Theoretical and practical results, novelty: First defined pathogenetic role of phosphodiesterase activity blocking in the prenatal period for the development of hypofunction of sex glands in male rats. Prenatal induction of inhibitors of different types of phosphodiesterase leads to an increase of cAMP level in the testes, pituitary gland and liver in neonatal animals, involves changes in the gonadotrophic activity of the pituitary gland and in concentration of sex hormones in the blood. It is established that consequences of this, in the future, include formation of a delay in the sexual development, hypoandrogenemy, reduction in the sensitivity of androgen-dependent organs to the action of testosterone, deterioration of spermatogenesis in male rats. Degree of implementation: The data can be used as a theoretical basis for the development of methods for prevention of the established perinatally-conditioned gonadal dysfunction. Sphere of application: Endocrinology, andrology, paediatrics.
