Essay

The thesis focuses on the contrastive analysis of the word-building productivity of synonymous native and borrowed substantives in the English, Ukrainian and Russian languages. The classification of the word-building productivity of lexemes according to the realization of their derivational capacity in language and speech has made it possible to distinguish real and potential aspects of the phenomenon in question. The average language word-building productivity of native and borrowed substantives in the languages under analysis has been determined. A new approach to the study of the influence of lingual and extralingual factors on the derivational productivity of substantives of different etymological groups has been worked out. Special attention has been attached to the significance of main intralingual factors. Neologisms derived from synonymous native and borrowed nouns of different origin in the publicistic and Internet-chat texts of the XXI century have been selected and analyzed.
