Essay

The analysis of the compaction process of titan samples by cold pressing has been performed along with the examination of mechanical properties of porous titan samples obtained by cold pressing. The methodology of integral assessment of the properties of interparticular contacts by means of unitless coefficient (К , КЕ , Ке) computation with subsequent plotting of the contact quality vs. sintering temperature were developed. This is the first study demonstrating that the electric contact formation (determined by the diminishment of electric resistance) in the titan compacts occurs at the temperatures 50 - 100 оС lower than the mechanical contact formation (determined by the increase of elastic modulus). The physical contact is formed at substantially higher temperatures. The technology of titan part manufacturing in vacuum by hot impulse pressing (HIP) has been worked out. It was determined for the first time that the electric, mechanical, and physical contacts in the HIP powder titan are formed considerably earlier than with sintering. The analysis of the influence of the technological parameters on the structure and properties of the titan ribbon, produced by titan powder rolling, was carried out.
