Essay

The dissertation is devoted to developing process for obtaining of zirconium containing compounds from Malyshevskiy deposit zircon using alkaline technique. Alkaline processing of zircon with the yield of zirconium oxychloride, stabilized zirconium dioxide and potassium hydroxycarbonate of zirconium. On the basis of thermodynamic system Zr-Si-Al-Ca-Ti-Fe-Na-H-O-N studies temperature parameters of process, proportion of initial reagents (zircon and caustic soda), were determined as well as energy parameters of sintering. Time characteristics of zircon sintering with caustic soda and kinetic parameters of the process involved were obtained experimentally. Phase composition of sintering products was also analized. The processes of water and hydrochloric acid leaching of the cakes obtained were experimentally investigated. Kinetic parameters of the above processes and the range of their proceeding were determinated. Kinetic equations reliably describing experimental data were chosen. It was shown that the product of alkaline processing (zirconium oxychloride) meets the requirements for purity and it doesn’t contain essential impurities of sodium. Application of zirconium oxychloride be using the technique developed, as an initial reagent for obtaining nano-powders of stabilized zirconium dioxide and potassium hydroxycarbonate of zirconium has shown high technological characteristics of zirconium oxychloride. The basic flow diagram for obtaining the superfine silicon dioxide modified by urea-formaldehyde polymeric compounds has been developed.
