The thesis concentrates on the complex analysis of C. Kingsley's historical novels "Hipathia", "Westward, Ho!" and "Hereward the Wake". The research is carried out within the main historiographic, philosophical and religious searching of the Victorian age. Specific character of C. Kingsley's historical method is examined in the context of the principal directions of the Victorian historical novel development. Reference approach to the analysis of the C. Kingsley's historical novels made it possible to determine the aesthetic succession of W. Scott's traditions and, at the same time, the predicative character of C. Kingsley's historical method. It was determined that C. Kingsley's historical novels belong to "religious historical novel" and "message-novel" that are the genre modifications. C. Kingsley's historical novel is considered to have the multi-level novel structure which gives three levels of history comprehension and reveals the prophetic character of his historical method.
