Ikalyuk L. Comparative Constructions in Old English Texts: Structural and Functional Aspects

The dissertation focuses on the complex synchronic and diachronic research of comparative constructions in Old English texts. The main principles of the category of comparison in philosophy, logic, and language are revealed. The ways of its language expression in Old English texts are determined. The methods of its studying at different language levels are developed. As to the practical tasks, main attention is fixed on classification of Old English comparative constructions and their structural models; construction of the functional semantic field of comparison in Old English; description of the lexical semantic combinatory of comparative construction components in Old English texts.
