Artyukh V. Verb Object Word Combinations of the English Economic Terminological System (Structural-semantic and Functional Aspects)

This dissertation is devoted to the study of horizontal term formation of verb object word combinations. The research of verb components reveals their structure, describes relevant word-forming models and determines influence of verb origin on their combinability. As a result of study structural models of verb object word combinations are singled out, structural and semantic characteristics of component interconnection is highlighted, external verb valence structure is considered, the definition of terminological word-combinations is given. Generalization of quantitative and qualitative data provided objective identifying the nucleus and periphery of microsystem of terminological verb object word combinations. Within the lexical-semantic layer, such characteristics of object verb word combinations as synonymy, antonymy, and polisemy have been described; lexical-semantic groups are singled out. Correlation between frequency of verb object word combinations in the texts of scientific and publicist styles and knowledge of potential reader is established and described.
