Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the complex study of "The Daily Telegraph" and "The Times"as historical sources and saturation for their thoughtful study of the Cold War history. The first part of the dissertation covers database and literature review as well as research methodology. A detailed analysis of the historiography of Ukrainian, Russian, English duly reflects the degree of research on this topic. In the second part of the dissertation the classification of British press, background of "The Daily Telegraph" and "The Times", their characteristics as historical sources are defined. The newspaper's informative abilities for investigation of the problems of the Cold War, it's aspects have been characterized in the third part. The content saturation of materials "The Daily Telegraph" and "The Times" have been analyzed according to the proposed thematic systematization. It was established, that the publications of the periodical press can be used for the study of all these questions, but it demands the critical attitude for them and comparative analysis of these materials with other sources. The historical sources, not previously used, have been put into scientific circulation.
