Essay

The objects are collection of poems by Walt Whitman and Bohdan-Ihor Antonych. The aim is the analysis of semiotic correlates of archetypal memory in literary heritage of Walt Whitman and Bohdan-Ihor Antonych. The methods are analysis, comparative-typological, mythocritical, archetypal and hermeneutic. In the dissertation the author systematically explores the functioning of the archetypal and mythopoetical layer as structural unity in the texts of American and Ukrainian poets which is dominant in their works; defines the number of cultural, religious, national and individual factors which are basic for the archetypal layer of W. Whitman's and B.-I. Antonych's lyric poetry. The methodology of the text interpretation is based on the theoretical and methodological conceptions of C. G. Jung, G. Bachelard, M. Eliade, Yu. Lotman, S. Prygodiy, L. Tarnashynska and others. Such an approach proved to be useful and productive for the text analysis. The typology of using by W. Whitman and B.-I. Antonych the archetypal memory semiotics accordances (first world elements, such as Soil, Water, Fire and Air), which modified into different archetypal images, is outlined. Application spheres are the training courses.
