Sydorchuk O. Jury in Right-bank Ukraine: establishment and activity (1880–1917)

Features and patterns of relationship of the establishment and activity of the jury in Right-bank Ukraine are investigated in this thesis on the basis of an analysis of legal acts, archival materials, serial publications and scientific literature. Its legal nature is revealed. Historical continuity of the genetic link of people's courts (vervnyi, kopnyi, and court of lavnykiv) with the jury is ascertained. Organizational and legal features of the functioning of the jury and the legal status of jurors are uncovered. Features of the establishment of the jury in Ukrainian right-bank provinces of tsarist Russia are elucidated and its staff is determined. Periods of its dominance in the criminal proceedings of Zhytomyr District Court are determined.
