The present dissertation covers the origin, development and organization of Lviv city chancery and prosopography of the chancery staff of the second half of XІV - XVI cc. Several stages in the development of city chancery functioning in XIV-XVI centuries have been marked out, biographies of all city chancery clerks working at L'viv chancery in the second half of XIV-XVI centuries have been reconstructed, professional and private activities of city chancery clerks have been characterized, the chancery documents and the foundation of city archives have been investigated.
