Knechunas S. The main insect pests of generative organs of the pea and controlling their numbers in the Central Forest-Steppe in Ukraine

Objects of research - harmfulness and biological characteristics of the pea weevil (Bruchus pisorum L.) and the pea moth (Cydia nigricana F.) in fields of the pea. Purpose - to improve the system of protection of the pea fields from Cydia nigricana F. and Bruchus pisorum L. in the Central Forest-Steppe in Ukraine on the basis of more accurate definition of characteristics of these pests' biology and ecologically directed protection ways. Methods: observations, laboratory and field tests, statistical method. Scientific novelty - firstly in the Central Forest-Steppe in Ukraine under contemporary condition it has been studied some characteristics of the seasonal and many-years dynamics of the population densities of the pea moth and the pea weevil in fields of the pea. The characteristics of their biology dependently on the hydrothermal conditions of vegetation period of the crop were defined more precisely. There were researched an influence of the preceding crops, sowing terms and sowing doses of seeds per ha on population densities and harmfulness of the above mentioned pests in agrobiocenosis of pea field. Evaluation of resistance of 24 new varieties of this crop against those pests in accordance with the pests' colonization has been carried out.
