Essay

The dissertation is to devoted investigation of the influence of social and historical processes on development of names of Volyn settlements. The author proposes her classification of settlements types and of corresponding place names. Changes of historical and cultural situation as well as geographical and linguistic factors are taken in consideration integral part of the dissertation is a comprehensive listing of existing and non-existing settlements of Volyn region with the information of their first appearances in historical sources and with comments on the origin of toponyms.
