Essay

The aim of the thesis is analysis of influence on spin-wave electrodynamics of different gyrotropic magnetic structures by external dc electric field. So, the object of research of the thesis is spin-wave electrodynamics of noncompensated magnetic media in the external dc electric field. Methods of phenomenological theory of magnetism, method of transfer matrix, method of effective medium, method of sections of wave vectors surface, numerical methods, methods of computer algebra and computer graphics, methods of mathematical physics equation are used for the achieving of the aim of the thesis. For the first time, with taking into consecutive consideration both quadratic magnetooptical interaction and gyrotropy of magnetic media, is theoretically proved in the work that spectrum of volume magnetic polaritons (both TM and TE type) is nonreciprocal. It is theoretically shown, that electric field induce many anomalies in the conditions of localization and reflection of volume electromagnetic wave on the interface "gyrotropic magnet - nonmagnet" type. Besides the necessary conditions, under which gyrotropic magnetic structures can evince the properties of left-handed materials, are determined. Also it is shown, that photon tunneling bands can form in a thin-layer gyrotropic magnetic photonic crystal. The results of this thesis can make a foundation for further analysis of spin-wave electrodynamics of synthetic multiferroic - new perspective artificial magnets. Application of results of work can be also useful with both development and optimization of wide range of photonics and functional microelectronic devices.
