Object of research: luminescent properties of cerium-containing oxide crystals. Aim: studying of role of the charge transfer in formation of luminescent and scintillation properties of cerium-containing oxide crystals. Results, novelty: For the first time, the possibility of control of energy storage effect in Lu2SiO5:Ce3+ crystals by codoping has been established. The codoping by Dy3+ ions increases the thermoluminescence and afterglow of LSO:Ce, but codoping by Yb3+ ions decreases. The mechanisms of free charge carrier recombination in codoped crystals were proposed. The occurrence of electronic excitation energy migration in Sr2CeO4 crystal has been proofed experimentally. The diffusion mechanism of migration is determined. The calculation of migration rate shows, that excitation passes about 1,2 nm on the donor chain during the proper lifetime. It could be concluded that despite the regular arrangement of luminescent centers in strontium-cerium oxide, the excitation mobility is rather weak. It is associated with the charge transfer in the crystal, i.e. the excitation preferred localization on CeO6 octahedrons as a result of significant redistribution of electron density in the excited state.
