Papayani I. Phenomen of religious identity, in a Philosophy and Religious Studies discourse

Candidate's thesis for the degree in Philosophy, specialty 09.00.11 - Religious Studies. - G. S. Scovoroda Philosophy Institute of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences (Religious Studies Department), Kyiv, 2010. This dissertation is dedicated to the complex philosophical and religious scientific analysis of the phenomenon of religious identity, its theoretical and functional peculiarities. Basic paradigms of the research of identity has been high lighted the authors view on the concept of religious identity. The work has proved that religious identity is a mental and social construct. The process of religious identity constructing both on the level a person and a group takes place through integration of social and cultural trends in society and accepting, either partly or fully, of a religious study despite the fact of intentions of a persons self consciousness to religious symbols. Functional character of religious identity on various levels of existences on common historical level (macro level), on day-to-day level (medium level), on individual level (micro level) is analyzed and researched in detail. It has been improved, that the level of a persons or peoples religious feelings and a specific character of religious identity depends upon the fact if central or a medial positions the fundamentals of a religion in the structure of their identity is.
