Essay

In the dissertation the research of the Christian denominations in Zhytomyr region in the late decade of the Soviet reign has been done. The most character changes in the area of relationship between the state and the church and in socio-religious life, which took places in the end of 'perestroika' period, have been shown. During 1980-s religious congregations of the region were subject to persecutions of the communistic authorities at different levels, and activity of the denominations were limited to liturgical and cultic practice. It has been ascertained that the socio-religious changes 1989-1991 coincided with socio-political processes in scale of the whole Ukraine.
