Essay

The phosphorylation of 1, 2-disubstituted imidazoles with phosphorus (III) halides have been studied and the methods of the synthesis of haloorganyl- and dihalo(imidazol-5-yl)phosphines have been developed. The mechanism of phosphorylation of 1- and 1,2-substituted imidazoles with halophosphines that expected the initial N(3)-phosporylated imidazolium salts formation was proved experimentally. The earlier unknown N-phosphino-imidazol-2-ylidenes showing various stability were obtained. A novel preparative route to 4-phosphorylated imidazoles featuring free 5th position was developed. The catalytic effect of lithium halides on phosphorylation and lithiation of imidazoles was discovered.
