Essay

The object is the party system of Ukraine during the period of independence. The aim is to identify the global (European) context features of the party system of modern Ukraine through the prism of social and political distinctions. The methods are general, comparisons, classifications, behavioralistical, comparative, historical, system. For the first time in the Ukrainian political science the thesis presents a comprehensive analysis of the right-left division conceptualization in the countries of the Western Europe, which allows to accept effectiveness of the classical model by Seymour Lipset and Stein Rokkan with minor adjustments. The thesis observes the key trends of the right-left division theorization in the countries of the Central and Eastern Europe and shows that it generally follows the European tradition with consideration of the local historical specificities. The thesis reveals the two-axis nature of the structuring of social and political polarizations in the post-communist countries. Using the postmodernism logics the thesis suggests three-stage periodization of the Ukrainian political system evolution from romantic-ideological throw pro-centrist to centrist-oligarch system with corresponding corrections in basic divisions at every stage. Application sphere is the training courses.
