Thesis is dedicated to the problem of development of the clinical and organizational basis for differentiated, adequate usage of the osteosynthesis methods under treatment of shaft fracture of the lower extremities. The thesis material was taken from: case reports, out-patient medical records of patients who had shaft fracture of the lower extremities from the archive of traumathology department of the Cherkassy regional hospital., Kiev city clinical hospital № 7 (199 patients with shaft fractures of the lower extremities (125 patients - investigational group, 74 patients - control group)), also feedback from doctors orthopedists-traumathologists. The feedback was received through anonymous questionnaires of traumathologists from 9 regions of Ukraine. Totally 856 completed questionnaires were received (23,32% of all orthopedists-traumathologists). Received data was compared to the feedback received from another anonymous inquiry of orthopedists-traumathologists that took place in 2004. On the basis of clinical, radiological, analytical/statistical (questionnaire survey), statistical methods, the structure of surgical interventions under the treatment of shaft fracture of the lower extremities used in Ukraine was determined as well as the dynamic of changes of the surgical interventions structure depending on main factors for the last 4 years in Ukraine. Also the main factors (economical, surgical) that influence the choice of the ostheosynthesis method of shaft fracture of the lower extremities in Ukraine were determined.
