Essay

The work is devoted to the development of scientific fundamentals of the synthesis of new composite eutectic materials on basis of LaB6, MoB2, ScB2, Mo2B5 and W2B5 for cathodes for plants of electron beam melting, evaporation, welding, dimensional processing of metals and alloys. The diagrams of fusibility of LaB6-MoB2, LaB6-ScB2, LaB6-Mo2B5, LaB6-W2B5 quasi-binary systems have been built, the morphology of eutectic alloys, structural transformations in phases during heating and cooling, mechanical and electro-physical properties of phases and eutectic alloys have been researched. Based on the regularities of crystallization of the studied LaB6-MeB2 systems a new graphical method for forecasting the coordinates of eutectic in quasi-binary systems has been developed. Cathodes made from LaB6-MoB2 alloys which have been studied in industrial plants of welding of metals in Institute of electric welding named after E.O.Paton of NAS of Ukraine have been produced and they have been applied in firm "Cermet-U" (Kharkiv) for melting and cutting of ceramics.
